Other Than That Mr. Pence, How Was The Show?
On Friday, Vice President-elect Mike Pence went to see the broadway show “Hamilton” and well let’s just say this was another another classic incident of some people on the left wanting to get more and more attention. This is not entirely uncommon from members of the democratic party, however quite unexpected from the star of a broadway show, who is supposed to be held to the highest of performing arts standards. After the show the lead, Brandon Victor Dixon decided to use his on stage opportunity to make a political statement at their curtain call. Dixon thanked the Vice President-elect for coming to the show, but then proceeded to discuss how “alarmed” and “anxious” America is about the Trump administration. Even going as far as to say Trump’s “adminstration will not protect us, our planet, our children, our parents, or defend us and uphold our inalienable rights,” ( http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/19/us/mike-pence-hamilton.html?_r=0) While the statement made by Dixon was not necessarily rude, it was completely uncalled for. Using your stage as a way to publicly scold the Vice President-elect and his counterpart’s administration when they won in a free and fair election, just proves the entire reason the left loss in the first place.
After everything, Mike Pence emerged from the theatre smiling even after being booed before he even reached his seat. Pence, being the kind person that he is says he was not offended by what Dixon had said, he told Fox News Sunday that he will leave [it] to others [to decide] whether that was the appropriate venue to say it,” (http://www.cnn.com/2016/11/20/politics/mike-pence-hamilton-message-trump/)
Not to mention, that the members of the broadway show did not even vote! Lecturing Mike Pence, when members of the cast haven’t voted in years, classy. According to Dixon’s voting records, he did not even vote for Obama’s reelection in 2012. But surely they have the right to lecture the Vice President-elect about an administration that they didn’t vote for nor oppose right? To quote Mr. Trump, “wrong.”
