Faithless Electors & C-List Celebrities
News of the ‘faithless electors’ has been popping in and out of the news cycle for days now. It’s time we address something, the popular vote is not the end all be all of the election. To whine about how “well Hillary won the popular vote by 3 million people” is just ignorant. We do not have mob rule in the United States, we have free and fair elections. A free and fair election that Mr. Trump won. Like it or not, he is your president. Unless you plan on moving to another country (good luck!) he will be your president. All this talk of how the electors are going to change their votes and put Hillary in the White House is nonsense. Congress has to accept what the electors vote, and being as how we have total control over literally everything that goes down in the White House, something tells me Hillary won’t be elected. If the electors who say that they want to vote Hillary in actually do so, they may as well kiss their political careers goodbye. Lawrence Lessig, a former presidential candidate said that the electoral college “should vote in proportion with how the population votes.” Okay, well if you do that, you may as well just toss the Constitution into the garbage, because that is literally defeating the whole point of the phrases “free and fair election” you dimwits. (http://www.npr.org/2016/12/15/505595890/mailbag-could-faithless-electors-keep-donald-trump-out-of-the-white-house) It is very sad to think that there are actually people that think of the 538 electors, that a big enough number of them (including Republicans) would change their votes.
Having celebrities beg for the electors to change their votes is quite intriguing. One elector from Wisconsin, Brian Westrate said the following: “I have a Twitter debate with a former porn star from California asking me to change my vote. It’s been fascinating.” Come on now, that is just silliness happening. Most of the celebrities I will name are C-list maybe B-list actors (and that’s pushing it) and they think that the Republican electors actually care about their opinions! (HA) Man Of Steel actor Richard Schiff says “By voting your conscience, you and other brave Republican electors can give the House of Representatives the option to select a qualified candidate.” By qualified he must mean being personally responsible for killing four American heroes in Benghazi, taking money from their own foundation to use for her child’s wedding, having a private server and deleting hundreds of thousands of emails right? Oh wait… that must be someone else, Hillary Clinton would never do those things. Martin Sheen says that whatever electors vote against Mr. Trump will go “down in the books as an American hero,” that’s interesting. That is most definitely my definition of an american hero, you know mine is someone who is willing to risk their lives for the safety of our nation like the military, police, etc. A hero is not an elector who decides to vote against Mr. Trump. Are these celebrities really that dense? Bob Odenkirk, Debra Messing, Mike Farrell, and Loretta Swit, among a slew of other irrelevant to today’s society celebrities all had something they wanted to tell the electors. Watch the full video here. (Disclaimer: It is mind numbly half-witted) I’m sorry but I just don’t see the Republican (and even some Democratic) electors changing their votes because Grace Adler (aka Debra Messing) has to say about the presidential election. (Love my Marky Mark!) (http://www.mediaite.com/online/mark-wahlberg-celebrities-shouldnt-talk-about-politics-so-much-pretty-out-of-touch/)
