Tennis Pro in Hot Water After Sexist Comment

Retired tennis pro John McEnroe, won’t apologize for saying Serena Williams would be ranked 700th if she was playing the men’s circuit. McEnroe is sexist according to some. Shocking, I know.
Known for having tantrums on the court, McEnroe is definitely out there. His most famous on-court catchphrase being “you cannot be serious.”

Clearly, people are seriously peeved. Was the comment rather uncouth? Yes. But let’s be real, there was nothing sexist about his statement. I could easily turn this around and say that the question was sexist to begin with.

I think it’s hysterical that McEnroe isn’t apologizing, why should he? First Amendment, amiright?
McEnroe proceeded to say that Serena is “the greatest female player that ever lived.” But evidently that’s not good enough for some people.

Following McEnroe’s comments, Serena tweeted “please please keep me out of your statements that are not factually based.” adding “Respect me and my privacy as I’m trying to have a baby…”

I take issue with her response… had Serena actually wanted “privacy” I don’t think she would have responded. Athletes make dumb comments all the time, not everything needs a response. She asked for privacy while simultaneously making this a bigger issue than it was.

But here’s some food for thought; boys are stronger than girls. That’s not sexist, it’s a fact. Why do you think the transgender Connecticut boy runs on the girls track team because he “identifies” as a chick?? He knows he will beat the girls, he’s physically stronger and as a result, runs faster.

Let’s get serious for a second: Who honestly thinks that Novak Djokovic (currently ranked #1 in men’s tennis) would lose to Serena Williams?? I think he would crush her, but that’s just me.
PS: The McEnroe said he’d rank himself in the 1,000’s place, had he been ranking himself.

Disclaimer: I played high school and college tennis for 4 years.
